MEET DR. LEON

![]() | You are not in this alone. Success takes teamwork — and Dr. Leon is proud to be part of YOUR team. |
As a native Texan, Dr. Leon’s inspiration is her late father, Robert Leon MD, who was the founding Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Through his guidance, she inherited not just a professional calling but a deep appreciation for emotional fortitude and spiritual resilience.
With over 25 years of medicine, psychiatry and elite performance enhancement experience, Dr. Leon has cultivated an approach and reputation that distinguishes her in her field. Her comprehensive practice spans many different medical psychiatry environments with particular expertise in sports and performance psychiatry.
Her holistic philosophy of care embraces collaboration within an ecosystem of support from family members and educators to coaches, trainers and other medical colleagues; ensuring truly integrated care.
At the heart of her practice lies a commitment to mental health optimization. Dr. Leon skillfully addresses the full spectrum of challenges that can impact performance and well-being: stress, anxiety, ADHD, depression, eating disorders, and mood disruptions. Sessions emphasize building resilience, preparing individuals to navigate high-stress environments with confidence through:
- Peak performance enhancement strategies
- Heightened frustration tolerance
- Performance anxiety management
- Optimized sleep patterns and recovery protocols
As a former collegiate swimmer and water polo competitor, Dr. Leon brings lived athletic experience to her practice which adds another level of understanding when working with athletes. She continues her athletic pursuits such as swimming, skiing, biking, hiking, running, and trying out almost any sport. Her achievements include top 10 placement in multiple events at masters national swimming and completing long distance hiking/mountain biking in the Rockies and the Alps.
Balancing her role as mother to three children with her professional responsibilities gives Dr. Leon a unique insight into parenting challenges. She has a personal understanding of the pressures involved, starting with youth sports through the college recruitment process. Her commitment to the psychiatric community extends through active pro bono work in national and international societies, supervision of residents and medical students, giving school presentations, mentoring of early-career psychiatrist and peer review services. Dr. Leon feels it is important to give back to others.
